Mrs. Doris Crosby Burch, age 96 of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Spalding Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Burch was born in Dunnellon, Florida on June 5, 1918. She is preceded in death by her parents, Author Demie Crosby and Claude Susan Walker Crosby; husband, Henry Marshall Burch II; sister, Iris Elisabeth Crosby; step daughter, Peggy Anne Burch Goodspeed. Mrs. Burch came from Florida in 1987 to Griffin to be near her step daughter in Hampton. She worked along side her husband in many ventures. Over the years, they had motels, a restaurant, dealt in real estate, building houses, and even had some cows. Mrs. Burch was a member of Believers Baptist Church.
Survivors include her step son, Henry Marshall Burch III of Jacksonville, FL; step daughter, Carolyn Frances Burch Floyd and husband, Leroy of Hampton, GA; step granddaughters, Sherry Padgett of Avera, GA, Mary Alta Goodspeed of Martinez, GA, and Cindy Brooks of Hampton, GA; step grandsons, Raymond Winslow Goodspeed and wife, Evelyn of Martinez, GA., Stephen Burch of VA, and Henry Marshall Burch IV of FL; step great grandsons, Spencer John Farley, Joshua Winslow Goodspeed, and Jason Padgett; step great-granddaughter, Celeste Angela Bridges and husband, Chuck; step great great granddaughters, Alyssa Austin, Emily Austin, Hannah Roberts, Jayda Roberts, Tabitha Burch and Esa Padgett; step great great grandsons, Johnathan Padgett, Jayton Padgett, Gavin James, Henry Marshall Burch V and Logan Story; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert Sydney and Marjorie B. Crosby; nephews, Robert Stephens Crosby of Ft. Worth, TX, Allen David Crosby of Greer, SC; great nephew, Russell Radell of Simpsonville, SC; best friend, Grace Henderson; longtime friend, John Mitchell; caregiver, Debra Ault, who treated Mrs. Burch which much love and respect.
Visitation for Mrs. Doris C. Burch will be on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 4:00pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Victor Edmonds will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Believers Baptist Church, 1724 High Falls Rd, Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mrs. Burch.
