Mr. Kenneth Edward Presley, age 83 of Griffin, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Spalding Regional Hospital.
Mr. Presley was born in Griffin, Georgia on October 26, 1930. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Debia Presley, his pet companion, Alex. Mr. Presley was a 1952 graduate of Griffin High School, attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Southern Poly Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked a as project Engineer for the State of Georgia, until he started his own business in1963, Presley and Associates until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Presley was a veteran of the United States Army having served durin the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Griffin where he attended the Bolton Sunday School Class. Mr. and Mrs. Presley would have had celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in July.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley F. Presley; daughter, Tresa Presley Haywood; grandchildren, Andrew Martin and his wife, Brittany, Alex Martin; great grandchild, Emmett Martin; sister, Maureen Huntington; several nieces and nephews; his pet companions, Molly, Doodle and NumNum.
Visitation for Mr. Kenneth E. Presley will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Hardee will officiate. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Benevolence Fund or the Library, P. O. Box 908, Griffin, Ga. 30224 in memory of Mr. Presley. The family has asked that the Bolton Sunday School Class sit in a group at the service. Pallbearers will be Nathan May, Will Brown, Brent Thompson, Cory Brown, Cameron Brown and Rocky Yarbrough.
