Mrs. Sharon Rose Dennis Whetsell, age 66, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Tranquility Hospice surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Whetsell was born in Roswell, New Mexico on May 4, 1948. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Nathan Springfield and Nellie Soule Drigers; her son, Shawn Doty. She was a member of the Woodstock First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force where she was the first female MP in the Air Force .

Survivors include husband, John Whetsell, Jr; son Eddie Doty, daughter, Tawny Phillips; grandchildren, Summer Vaughn, William Doty and Nathan Doty; great grandchildren, Tanner Pitts and Braylen Vaughn; sister, Mary Patterson; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Building A of the Woodstock First Baptist CHurch. Reverend Mike Tilley will officiate.The United States Air Force will render military honors.
