Mrs. Violet Ensley Godwin, age 95, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Brightmoor Nursing Center.

Mrs. Godwin was born in Blairsville, Georgia on June 26, 1919. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jetter Ensley and Florence Bridges Ensley; husband, Hughie Jackson Godwin; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Dewey Ensley, Donald Ensley, Rhoda Wimpey and Polly Ebbett. Mrs. Godwin was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church in Tucker, Georgia. She retired from Learner Shops Clothing Inc.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Derenda “Dee” and Charlie Almand, Beverly and Jerry Grimes; sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy Hughie Godwin and Gregory Leon and Kathy Godwin; grandchildren, Lori Sims, Lendee Tolbert, Shannon Chapman, Mandy Stump and Michael Godwin; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews

Visitation for Mrs. Violet Godwin will be on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury. Reverend Dillard Ensley will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Hill Memory Gardens following the service at 3:30 pm, 3000 Lawrenceville Highway Tucker, Georgia 30084 .
