Mrs. Betty Whitley Gossett, age 89 of Griffin passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Gossett was born in Lyons, Georgia on October 12, 1928. She is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and L.D. Moore Whitley. Mrs. Gossett graduated from Spalding High School, was a member of Sunny Side United Methodist Church. Her family was everything to her and loved every minute she was able to spend with them. Her other passion was being an avid golfer and she never turned down a chance to go fishing.

She is survived by husband of 68 years, Howard B. Gossett, Jr.; children, Howard B. Gossett, III and wife Joni, Susan Gossett Hammond and husband Mitch, Don Gossett and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Brent Gossett, Jared Gossett, Michael Gossett and fiancé Katherine Adams, Whitley Long, Casey Long, Jaimee Gossett, Emily Gossett, Lynsey Tafoya and husband Chris, Lauren Steward and husband, Shane, Cory Anderson, Lauren Postell and husband Matt, Jordan Hammond and wife, Brandi; great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Cody, Knox, Conner, Brody, Collins, Chase and wife Charity, Savannah, Amelia, Charlotte, Lincoln, Willow and Lylah Betty; brother, Bob Whitley; several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Betty W. Gossett will be Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A family graveside service will be held. The family requests that you please omit flowers and consider making a contribution to the Sunny Side United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 81, Sunny Side, Georgia, 30284 in memory of Mrs. Gossett.
