Mrs. Betty Elaine Mercer, age 71 of Zebulon, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mrs. Mercer was born on August 7, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Wynell Murph; husband of 49 years, Marion Luke Mercer. Mrs. Mercer was retired from J.C. Penney with over 30 years of service.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Cecil Smith; granddaughter and husband, Ariel and Brian Rice; grandson and wife, Michael and Alicia Smith; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Rice, Evonne Smith, Luke Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lillian Murph; aunt, Peggy Townsend; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Betty Elaine Mercer will be on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Pastor Bud Gleaton will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens.
