Mrs. Caroline Sue Applegate, age 86 of Griffin, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Wellstar Spalding Hospital.

Mrs. Applegate was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 3, 1931. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ira Hinsey and Lois McAlister Hinsey; husband, Loyd Applegate; granddaughter, Jessica McClain. Mrs. Applegate was a retired teacher having taught High School English in Kansas, and taught College English at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She loved to read, knit, and was a lifelong Presbyterian.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Kathie and Roy McClain; son and daughter in law, Ken and Holly Applegate; grandchildren, Rachel McClain, Larisa Umpenhour and husband Scott, Emmie Michasiow and husband Russ; great grandchildren, Kale Michasiow, Isabella Michasiow.

The memorial service will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Fayette Presbyterian Church. Dr. Alex Moses will officiate.
