Mr. David Kelly Akin, Sr., age 83, of Hampton, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Akin was born August 4, 1933 in Griffin, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Elizabeth Kelley Akin. Mr. Akin worked for Seaboard/CSX Railroad with 39 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean conflict. Mr. Akin loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church Lovejoy.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Helen Dunn Akin; children and their spouses, David and Lagene Akin, Susan and Allen Vaughn, Alan Akin; grandchildren and their spouses, Davey and Sarah Akin, Nick and Julie Akin, Eli and Whitney Akin, Austin and Hollie Lemieux, Jacob and Stephanie Lemieux, Clint and Kayla Lemieux, Gracie Akin, Katie Akin; great grandchildren, Lailey, Maddox, Avonlea, Addy, Jude, Evangeline, Beatrice, Shyanne, Cody, Slade, Ethan, Benjamin, Nolan,; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for David Kelly Akin, Sr., will be on Tuesday May 23, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Wednesday May 24, 2017 from 12:00pm until the hour of the service at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Argin Floyd and Reverend Andy Hannah will officiate.
