Mrs. Doris King Dickinson, age 89, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Brightmoor Nursing Center

Mrs. Dickinson was born October 3, 1927, in Athens, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Otis Jenkins King and Sally Jeannette Scroggs King; her husband, Charles E. Dickinson, who passed away in 1994; her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jerol Drawdy. She graduated from North Georgia College and Emory University School of Nursing. After graduating, she became an instructor at Emory. She and her husband came to Griffin in 1962 when Charles accepted a position with Dixie Pipeline in Milner. Mrs. Dickinson worked at the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital from 1964 until she retired in 1985. She was a member of the Griffin First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kimberly Dickinson of Alpharetta; granddaughter, Logan Dickinson of Washington, DC; grandson Luke Dickinson of New York City; sister, Betty Simmons; and several nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to caregiver, Pam Turner, and all the neighbors on Skyline Drive.

Visitation for Mrs. Doris K. Dickinson will be Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation there will be a memorial service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Doris Dickinson.
