Mrs. Eileen Horton Dozier, age 88, of Griffin passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Mrs. Dozier was born in Eastman, Georgia on November 6, 1928. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. and Annie Bell Jones; her husbands, Truman Darnell and Hugh Dozier; her son, Chuck Horton; two brothers, Ralph Jones, Doyle Jones; sister, Linda Jones. Eileen retired from Dundee Mills Main Office after more than 25 years of service. She continued and loved meeting fellow retirees once a month for fun and fellowship. She was a longtime active member of Griffin Center Point Church, beginning when it was Palace Street Church of God. She loved her church family and also loved to share her talent as “Liza Jane Simpleton” sharing her humor and inspiration with many other Churches, civic groups in the area. She represented Spalding County in Regional Talent Shows in comedy, winning first place several times as well as writing 2 books, (“What Really Matter” and “Fabrics of My Heart with Scraps of Humor”). In her efforts to pass on the great heritage she was Handed Down. Not in Wealth but the Love of God and Her Faith that sustained her through many Dark Times as well as the Good.

She is survived by sons, James Ronald Horton and wife, Phyllis, Kenneth Lee Horton and wife Cathy; her sister, Marilyn Pritchard and husband Kenneth; brother, Rev. J.M. Jones and wife Jency; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Odom; “mama” to Tom Dozier; grandchildren, James (Rob) Horton, Ronald Jason Horton, Gary Horton, Philip Horton and wife Jessica, Erica Horton, Kayla Horton, Austin Horton; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mrs. Eileen Dozier will be on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Griffin Center Point. Pastor Ken Horton and Pastor Damien Wright will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
