Mr. Elbert L. Smith, age 88 of Jackson, Georgia formally of Griffin passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson.

Mr. Smith was born March 6, 1929 in Waynesboro, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Smith and Effie Hurst Smith Ricketts; wife, Bessie Mae Smith; granddaughter Sonya Smith; brother’s James Hurst and Charles Smith.

Survivors include his sons Sammy Joe Redding of Griffin, and Eugene Smith; daughters, Nancy Sue Mills and (Roger) of OH, Janice Kay Tober and (James) of Griffin, Barbara Prince of TN; grandchildren Duwayne Mills of MI., Windy Mills of OH., Sarah Stanfield of Milner, Brandon Tober and (Melissa) of Griffin, Kayla Echols and (Stephen) of Williamson, Heather Marshall of OH.,Michael Lynn and Anita of TN.; great-grandchildren Marisa Mills, Hunter Echols, Courtney Marshall, Emma Grace Echols and Addison Stanfield; Brother’s Guy Smith of CO. and Roy Smith of IN.; sister, Buelah Mae Evans of TN.; brother-in-law Roy Jarrell and (Ann) of Griffin, along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be at the Conner-Westbury Funeral Home on Friday, May 19, 2017, 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be held at the Young’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2255 Antioch Road, Cedartown, Georgia on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11am.
