Mrs. Maudie Lee Prescott passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the age of 85, at Brightmoor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Griffin, GA. Mrs. Prescott was born in Griffin, GA on November 13, 1931. She retired from Spalding Knitting Mills and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents John Thomas Strickland and Maudie Lee Strickland; husband Melvin Thomas Prescott, Sr.; sons, Melvin Thomas (Tommy) Prescott, Jr. and Dennis Keith Prescott; sisters, Mattie Strickland, Margaret Strickland, Elizabeth Raughton, Ruth Sutton, and Mary Whitfield. Survivors for Mrs. Prescott include her daughter-in-law Marilyn Minery and her husband Robert R. Minery, Sr. of Tyrone; grandchildren Brad Prescott of Lamar Co. GA and Brian Prescott of Griffin; great grandchildren Keegan and Summer Prescott; brother John Thomas Strickland and his wife Patricia Strickland of Griffin; sisters-in-law, Mae Chambers and Jackie Holley, Susi Prescott; brothers-in-law, Benjamin Prescott and Byron Prescott; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation for Mrs. Maudie Lee Prescott will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. David Hill will officiate. Interment will be at Westwood Gardens.
