Maurice Dodd, age 81, of Ashville, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the home of his son, in Jackson, Georgia surrounded by his family.

Maurice was born February 19, 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Hampton Dodd and Ella Carmen Croft Dodd; wife, Johnnie Gail Bowling Dodd; brothers, Carl Edward Dodd and Rayford Marvin Dodd; sister, Jane Dodd May Harris Norwood. Mr. Dodd retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, as a tool and die maker, with over 35 years of service. He also operated JR Machine Products for many years. Mr. Dodd was a proud graduate of Jacksonville State University. He was a devoted veteran of the United States Army, having served both stateside and overseas. Mr. Dodd enjoyed University of Alabama football, Atlanta Braves baseball, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his first wife, Lory Dell Chambers Dodd; children, Jeffrey (Cindy) Dodd, Jill Dodd (Scott) Stewart and Joey (Christy) Dodd; stepchildren, Jonathan (Katie) Reynolds, Chris (Kebrina) Reynolds and Keith (Beth) Reynolds; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jessica) Dodd, Zachary Dodd, Jacob Forester Stewart and Evelyne Hall; step-grandchildren, Lily Ann Reynolds, Addie Reynolds, Steven Reynolds, Hunter Reynolds, Dakota Reynolds, Katelyn Reynolds and Austin Reynolds; sister, Jean Dodd Goyer and several nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Brightmoor Hospice and Amanda Boynton Whitehead.

Visitation for Mr. Maurice Dodd will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 200 North College Street Glencoe, AL 35905. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Reverend Rodney McInnis will officiate. Interment will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden, AL.
