Mr. Wilbur Ilis Steede, age 84, of Griffin passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Eternal Hope Hospice.
Mr. Steede was born in Hamilton Parish, Bermuda on June 9, 1933. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Steede Richardson; sister and brother, Iris Steede and Neville Richardson. He retired from H. J. Russell Construction as a Master Carpenter and Construction Superintendent. Mr. Steede was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather. He was with the Carpenter’s Union 225 and a member of Ringgold Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Olea McCarter Steede; children, Garri Steede, Jill Mitchell, Walter Steede, Wanda Stark, Warren Steede, Wayne Steede, Wilbur Q. Steede; sister, Mavis Hord; brothers Denny Richardson, Cranfield Richardson and Elton Richardson; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.
A visitation for Wilbur Ilis Steede will be on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation a funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Conner-Westbury. Reverend Rob Rhew and Dr. E.C. Chatham will officiate. Interment will follow at Griffin Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Eternal Hope Hospice, 123 North 18th Street Griffin, GA 30223 in honor of Mr. Wilbur Steede.
