William Robert Chadney, 54, of Griffin, GA passed away February 7, 2017 at Eternal Hope Hospice Center surrounded by his cherished family and devoted staff. Bill was born in Altoona, PA to Carlyle and Janet Chadney who preceded him in death. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Betsy Miller Chadney, their son Brandon and daughter-in-law Alyssa. In addition, Bill’s sisters, Deborah Snyder, husband Greg; Michele Keck, husband Larry; brother, Jeffrey Chadney and wife DeeAnn. As well as Betsy’s wonderful family; parents, sister, brothers and their spouses joined by nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. All have prayed, hoped, helped and will greatly miss him. Bill’s sense of humor, work ethic, and love for his family are some of the distinguishing characteristics of his too-short life. He lived bravely with compassion not only for other people but also for his and Betsy’s pets and any animals needing rescue.

Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in VMAQ-2, MAG-14, 2dMAW, MCAS Cherry Point, NC. Bill followed the footsteps of his father, his brother Jeffrey, and other relatives continuing a proud family tradition of military service. He received several citations including Rifle Marksman Badge, Meritorious Mast, Navy Achievement Medal, multiple Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, several Good Conduct Medals, and Letters of Appreciation. Bill also served as a member of the Marine Corps League Stephen W. Pless Detachment 1196.

Bill used his Marine Corps training in aircraft mechanics to proudly work for Delta Airlines. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2010 while employed by Delta Airlines. Delta has been very supportive of his nearly 26 year career and most recently during his illness.

A memorial service for William Robert Chadney will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Bishop Richard Wynn will officiate. Friends may visit the family after the service.
