Name: Hillard Grant Allen Date: January 10th, 1923 - July 17th, 2010 Obituary: Mr. Hillard Grant Allen, affectionately known as “Paw-Paw”, age 87 peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Christian Ministries Hospice. Mr. Allen was born on January 10, 1923 in Lumber City, Georgia to the late Lynn Hamilton Allen and the late Pearl Coley Allen. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nettie Mae Crane Allen; one son, Terry Allen, two daughters, Diane Wright and Linda Mae Schultz, and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Allen. Mr. Allen retired after 33 years from Thomaston Mills, Griffin Division. He was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church of God. His passion in life was his faith in God, his wife, children and hard work. Mr. Allen’s memory will be cherished by his two daughters, Elaine (Paul) Johnson of High Point, NC, and Barbara (Judd) Reeves of Brandon, MS; eight sons, Leroy (Joan) Allen, Charles Allen, Jerry Allen, Wayne (Anita) Allen, Carlton (Pam) Allen, and Lonnie Allen all of Griffin, Richard (Sherline) Allen of Milner, Larry (Patricia) Allen of Monroe; 28 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Moncrief, and Alice Corley; brothers, David Allen, and Franklin Allen; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Shirley Dixon. Funeral service for Mr. Hillard Grant Allen will be conducted on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Greg Marsh will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
