Name: Reverend Walter H. Logan Date: December 1st, 1921 - February 7th, 2010 Obituary: Walter Hiram Logan, 88, died peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home in Greenwood, SC. Walter was born on December 1, 1921 in Spalding County, Georgia to Hiram Winfield and Eleanor Logan. After graduating from Spalding High School, he went on to graduate from Norman Park College in Georgia and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Across many years of service, Reverend Logan was honored to be called to serve churches in Crawfordville, Washington, Griffin, Douglas, Zebulon, and Thomaston, GA. A highlight of his life was 18 years of service as Superintendent of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home at Meansville, GA. It was indeed a special calling and generous commitment to others and his deep faith that guided him across the years. Walter is survived by his devoted wife and companion of 65 years, Elizabeth Biles Logan and loving daughter Anne Logan Lockwood and husband Carl of Columbia, SC; sons, Joseph W. Logan, MD, and wife Ann of Greenwood, SC and Walter T. Logan, DVM, and wife (Rebecca) of Buena Vista, VA; sisters Annette Amschler and Rebecca McLean both of Griffin, GA. He leaves behind 8 grand children: Joseph, Mat, and Andrew Logan, Corri, Abigail, and Georgia Logan, Justin and Miles Swartz and 17 great-grand children, many nieces and nephews. Rev. Logan was predeceased by his sister, Frances Forrester. The family offers a very special and sincere thank you to Kathren. Funeral services for Reverend Walter Logan will be conducted on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Rehoboth Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
