January 28, 1947-April 7, 2021

Mr. Allen James Kirst, age 74 of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Eternal Hope Hospice. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Kirst and Harriet Salzwedel Kirst; a brother, Carl Kirst.

Allen was retired from Delta Airlines with 38 years as an airline mechanic. After retiring from Delta, he began working for the Spalding County School System as a bus driver for 15 years. He drove for the special needs children which he grew very fond of.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Brown Kirst; daughters and their spouses, Charlotte and Bill Balturshot, Katherine and Courtney Scoggins, Patti Hanner; grandchildren, Josie Schafer, Brooke Munoz, Carson Tippitt, Gabrial Hanner, Bella Balturshot, Bryn Balturshot, Will Balturshot; great grandchildren, Cooper Munoz, Dakota Munoz, Christian Tippitt; brother, Arland Kirst; special nieces and nephew, Danielle, Jimmy and Hanna Jarvis.

Allen will be remembered most for his kind, loving, quiet and helpful nature. Always dependable and reliable. He appreciated creation as well as the little things in life, always making time to honor the creator. As one of Jehovahs Witnesses he regularly made time to help others to understand the Bible and the hope it offers. His genuine love for children caused young ones to be drawn to him, which made him a father, uncle, and Oumpa to many.
He enjoyed flying planes, riding motorcycles, skiing, and many other activities. Allen said he lived life to the fullest and he certainly did. He played many musical instruments, traveled the world, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Mr. Kirst’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
