Mrs. Betty Ann Hammond Virden age 77 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mrs. Virden was born in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia, on October 13, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank C. and Ida Williams Hammond, brothers, Marshall Butler and Gene Butler. Betty was a longtime, active member of Griffin First Assembly, and was retired from Griffin- Spalding County School System.
Mrs. Betty Ann,was affectionately know by her family as Nana. She loved the Lord and was the most loving and caring person, the glue and foundation of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mickey Virden; four children and their spouses, Teri and Wayne Chasteen, Sami and Lyn Shockley, Ivey and Chris Biles, Jason and Tiffani Virden; grandchildren, Aspen and Randall Parker, Jordan and Craig Cain, Kaitlyn Whithead, Coleman Biles, Hailey Biles, Garrison Biles, Jackson Virden, Madison Virden, T.J. Shockley, Savannah Shockley, Ben Shockley; great-grandchildren, Bryson Littlejohn, McKaylee Goodman, Mason Anderson, Emerson Cain, Hunter Parker, Remington Parker; sister-in-law, Jean Butler; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation for Mrs. Betty Ann Virden will be Monday, July 16, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Randy Valimont will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brightmoor Hospice, 3247 Newnan Road, Griffin, Georgia 30223, in honor of Mrs. Virden.
