Billy R. Herring

Billy R. Herring, age 79 of Newnan, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his residence.
 
Bill was born August 31, 1942 in Phoenix City, Alabama, and raised in Donalsonville, Georgia. His parents, Durwood and Cecil Brooks Herring, a daughter, Kristie L. Brooking, and brothers, Roger Herring and Ricky Horn all preceded him in death. He worked and retired with 33 years of service with National Linen Service; started as a route man and worked his way up through the ranks of the company. At the time of his retirement at the age of 55, he was one of the Regional Vice-Presidents. Bill loved God first then his family. His family was everything to him. Bill’s favorite hobbies were dove hunting in his hometown of Donalsonville with his lifelong hunting buddies and fishing on West Point Lake with family and friends. Bill was a former member, Deacon and Treasurer of Edgewood Assembly of God in Columbus and since moving back to the Newnan area has been a member of Brooks Assembly.
 
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jeanette P. Herring; daughter, Dawn Purdon and husband, John of Newnan; son, Bret Herring of Columbus; son-in-law, Kevin Brooking of Senoia. His grandchildren are Christopher Herring of Columbus, Amber Phillips and husband, Keith of LaGrange, Preston Herring of Phoenix City, Chandler Herring and wife Kelsey of Phoenix City, J.C. Purdon of Newnan, Lanier Brooking of Senoia, Lee Brooking of Senoia, and Landon Brooking of Senoia; and great grandchildren, Cayden Phillips, Bralynn Phillips, Adalyn Phillips, and Haisley Herring. His only surviving sibling, Jimmy Herring and wife, Lynn; host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
A visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Brooks Assembly of God, 7401 Newnan Hwy, Brooks, Georgia. Followed by a graveside service at 2 pm in the church cemetery. Pastor Craig Rivers and Pastor Charles Hays will officiate. Masks are encouraged for those attending.
