Buford Ogletree

Buford Ogletree age 78 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at his residence.

Buford was born in Griffin, Georgia on March 29, 1942. He is preceded in death by, parents, Lester G. Ogletree and Louise Harper Ogletree; sister, Evelene Manderson. Buford was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served on the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier and was awarded the Marine Corps Expeditionary medal for participation during the Bay of Pigs. Buford retired from Norfolk Southern Railway with over 30 years as a diesel mechanic. His hobbies were working on cars and collecting classic cars, especially Chevrolets and Dodges.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Amelia Taylor Ogletree; children, Michelle Ogletree Gable and husband, Blake; Buford Taylor Ogletree and wife, Stephanie; grandchildren, Rachel Dunlap and husband, Donnie, Libby Bond, James Blake Gable and Ethan Clark Ogletree; great-grandchildren, Colden Lee and Emma Dunlap; siblings, Buster Ogletree and wife, Audrey, Mary Ruth Busbee; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Cone and Reverend Gene Middlebrooks will officiate.
