Mrs. Claudette Turner Smith, age 81, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018.

Claudette was born in Spalding County, Georgia on October 11, 1936. She held a B.S. and Master’s Degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville. She taught in the public schools of Georgia for over 30 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chafin L. Smith, her parents, Addie Crane Turner and Thomas Watson Turner, sister, Vivian T. Reeves; brother, James Turner. She was a former member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in the Brent Community of Monroe County; a member of Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma; Monroe county Retired Teachers, Forsyth Chapter of AARP and the Forsyth Lions Club; after moving to Griffin, she became a member of Griffin First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two step sons Randall L. Smith, Jimmy Smith; two grandsons, Allen Smith and Mark Smith; sisters, Merie T. English, Peggy Turner; brother, Jerry Turner and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Claudette T. Smith will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will conducted on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Dale Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow in the Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens, Forsyth. Mrs. Smith’s request was to please omit flowers and make a donation to a charity of your choose.
