Calvin Bearden

Calvin D. Bearden, age 79 of Griffin, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Eternal Hope Hospice.

Calvin was born in Pickens, South Carolina on February 25, 1944. His parents, Lloyd Bearden, Sr. and Jessie Dodson Bearden; daughter, Mandy Bearden Edge; brothers, R. B. Bearden, Lloyd Bearden, Jr., and Jerry Mack Bearden, all preceded him in death. Calvin was owner and operator of Cal’s Mobile Home Services, attended Oak Hill Baptist Church, past master and former member of Masonic Lodge # 413 and a member of and past Master of Masonic Lodge # 90. Calvin was also a member of Shriner’s and spent many hours, days and weekends collecting money for the Shriner’s Children's Hospital.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Glenda Peeples Bearden; children, Doug and Cindy Bearden of Pickens, SC, Angie and Tony Chappell of Easley, SC, Linda Tant of Pickens, SC, Robbie and Kim Bearden of Orchard Hill, Shane Bearden of Griffin, Yvonne Bearden and Paul Lewis of Barnesville; sister, Betty Bearden Bender of Woodland, TX; 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gail Patton; mother-in-law, Shirley Steele; brother-in-law, Larry Peeples; several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Calvin Bearden will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Pastor John Nance will officiate; Interment will follow in the old New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with the Masons in charge of Masonic Graveside Rites.
