Catherine Lewis

Mrs. Grace Catherine Archer Lewis, age 90 of Griffin, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin, Georgia.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Ralph William Lewis; parents, Charles and Grace Irene Archer; sons, Johnny Lewis, Ernest Lewis, Larry Lewis and Bill Lewis, Jr. She was a long time member of Union Baptist Church of Griffin. Mrs. Lewis was referred to as “Mrs. Cat” by many and was a hard worker her entire life. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sewing and made the best biscuits and fried apple pies.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Dennis) Evans, Betty Gebhardt, Marie Huey; son, Robert “Rawhide” Lewis; grandchildren, Clark “Runt” Lewis, Chad Lewis, Clay Lewis, Tammy McDaniel, Matthew Evans, Richard Gebhardt, Rebecca Lewis, Lee Huey, Ariel Huey, Myranda Chapman, Denise Lewis and Larry Lewis; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sister, Betty Moore of North Carolina; sister in law, Frances Allen of Griffin; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lewis also had a special caretaker Mrs. Judy.

Visitation for Mrs. Lewis will be Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Interment will be in Union Cemetery at Ringold Baptist Church in Griffin. Rev. Tim Conort will officiate.
