As the sun was rising on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, an angel stopped by and whispered “take my hand, job well done”. Clyde Edward Blaine was born October 1, 1948 in Panama City, Florida to the late Rebecca Clemons and Joe Blaine. He came to Griffin, Georgia at an early age and joined Achaia Baptist Church in Griffin Georgia. Growing up Clyde was a student of the Griffin Spalding County School System attending Fairmont High School before entering the Job Corps. The vocational training led to a wide variety of jobs including Stove Woodard, Cain Furniture, the Elk’s Club and Spalding Undertaker. He later retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after almost 30 dedicated years of service.
You could find Clyde at times on his Harley Davidson or watching his beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs! During the off-season's Clyde loved watching movies and television shows (especially westerns) and listening to music in general, solving word search puzzles. If you were experiencing a terrible day you could turn to Clyde for the prank!!!
Clyde was preceded in death by his mother Rebecca Clemons, his father Joe Blaine, his step father Lonnie Clemons Sr, Sister Lizzie Baker; Brother Owens Blaine, Brother In- Laws Judge Baker Jr, and Reverend Larry Ward.
He is survived by 2 daughters: La’Sandra (Sean) Owens of Hampton, GA, April (Kelvin) Reed of Chesapeake, VA, and 1 son Jordan Blaine of Hampton, GA and grandchildren: Zaria S. Owens, Kavarius Reed, Kamil Reed, Addison Rae’ Blaine, Ashston Reece Blaine, One sister Kathy (Pat) Ward of Griffin, GA and One brother Lonnie (Bernice) Clemons, Jr. of Griffin, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Clyde Blaine will be Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Friday, April 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery.
