Mr. David George Allen, age 76 of Griffin, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Allen was born on February 4, 1943 in Lamar County, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn H. Allen and Pearl Coley Allen; brothers and sisters, Hillard Allen, Ingram Avery Allen, Hugh D. Allen, Hubert Allen, Bennie H. Allen, Frank Allen, Roy Allen, Lector “Sally” Phillips, Maybell Helms; brother-in-law, David Watson. He was a member of Griffin First Assembly where he served as the Royal Rangers Senior Commander for 25 years. He loved his church and enjoyed cooking for the different events. David was a retired employee of Kmart Corporation, with 25 years of service. He also worked for First Assembly and the Spalding County Recycle Center. David was a proud, retired member of the Georgia Army National Guard with 33 years, 9 months and 13 days of service.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jo Anne Watson Allen; daughters, and sons-in-law, Regina Allen, Nancy and Scott Smith; grandsons and spouses, Christopher and Amber Smith, Cody and Yesenia Smith, Harrison Bodenheimer, Jonathan Bodenheimer, Nathan Bodenheimer; great-grandchildren, Landon Smith, Tinslee Smith and Leyla Smith; sisters, Alice Corley and Beatrice Moncrief; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances Allen Diane Allen, June and Terry Parker, Debbie Watson, Don and Deb Watson, Michael and Debbie Watson; many nieces and nephews; his precious dog Ms. Daisy.

A visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Griffin First Assembly. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
