David Shaw

David Henry Shaw, age 81 of Jackson, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Dream Catchers Assisted Living.

David was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 2, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Nash Shaw and Addie Tyndall Shaw and daughter Stephanie Shaw.

David was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he learned to become an airplane mechanic; he later put those skills to use as a mechanic for Delta Airlines. John Wayne was his hero; he was always calling people “Pilgrim” and asking if they knew who said “That’ll be the day!” His favorite answer when asked how he was doing was “Fine as frog hair!”

Survivors include his wife, Veronica “Ronne” Younger Shaw; daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Jay Haygood; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Sherron Shepherd-Shaw; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Mitchell Shaw and Kelsey Sorrell-Shaw; grandson, Ben Haygood; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Eric and Jessica Haygood; grandson, Jacob Haygood; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Leah and David-Allen Robins; great granddaughters Michaela Sorrell-Shaw and Madelyn Sorrell-Shaw; great grandsons, Barret Haygood, Orville Sorrell-Shaw; brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Betsy Shaw, niece, Kristin Morrison (Jeff); nephew, David Shaw; grandnephew, Daniel Morrison and grandniece, Eliana Morrison.

A Celebration of Life is May 13, 2022 at 11:00 o’clock at Stark United Methodist Church, 1097 Halls Bridge Road, Jackson, GA.
