Derrick Jermaine Peavy

Because he was NEVER ordinary, Derrick Jermaine Peavy made his grand entrance into the world on July 22. 1980 in an extraordinary way. Derrick was born at home in Jonesboro, GA. His 12-year-old sister Shawanda was the “Obstetrician” who helped his mom bring him into the world, while his brothers, Anthony (age 7) and Eddie (age 10) “waited” in the closet! Derrick came into the world smiling and laughing and that’s how he lived his life - full of JOY & HAPPINESS.

Derrick was educated in the Griffin-Spalding County School System and graduated from Griffin High School in 2000. Derrick accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of Barrow Chapel UMC where he also sang in the choir.

Derrick was a team lead at Geodis in McDonough, GA where he was loved by all. He was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, uncle, friend and fiancé! Derrick was known for his love of nice cars and for his sense of fashion. He wasn’t afraid to mix it up and be unique when it came to clothing, and as his style developed, he started his own clothing line called “Ice Lyfe by D.P.”

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nathaniel Lindsey, Sara Peavy and John Stephens; his uncles, Gary Peavy and Rickey Coggins; his aunt, Eva Jean Coggins and his life-long best friend Darius Lucier (most affectionately known as “Lil D”). Derrick answered God’s call and went to be with Him and his loved ones on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 3:40pm at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his children. Quinderious Peavy, Kaniya Garland, Aiyanna Peavy, Khaliya Dennis, Khalique Dennis, Derrick Ponder, Honesty Peavy, Christian Peavy and Dylan Peavy. His parents Eddie & Brenda Peavy Sr. His siblings, Shawanda (Charles) Butts, Norcross, GA, Anthony (Enette) Henderson, West Palm Beach, FL., Eddie Peavy, Jr., Jonesboro, GA. Anthony (Telisa) Peavy, Griffin, GA. and Jennifer Stevenson, Griffin, GA. His Grandmother, Katie Humphrey, Griffin, GA. Three aunts, Shirley Welch, Inez Peavy and Barbara Coggins, all of Griffin, GA. Four uncles, John (Peggy) Humphrey, Atlanta, GA, Samuel (Carolyn) Coggins, Griffin, GA, Randolph (Mary Ann) Coggins of Griffin, GA. and Richard Peavy of Atlanta, GA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and the love of his life, his devoted companion, best friend and fiancée, Ms. Christy N. Ausbrooks.
