Mrs. Dixie Brooks Sisk age, 80 of Griffin, Georgia passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mrs. Sisk was born December 17, 1939 in Strickland Memorial Hospital in Griffin, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband Lee R. Sisk of Forest City, North Carolina and her parents Billy G. Brooks and Henrietta Connor Brooks. Mrs. Dixie was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Griffin, Georgia and loved taking care of children as a volunteer in the Church nursery. She was a loving mother and grandmother devoted to her family and friends. As a young woman, Mrs. Sisk worked at McLellans and for Lee Roy Claxton at Claxton’s pharmacy in Griffin before becoming a stay-at-home Mom to raise a family as a devoted wife and mother to her husband and two sons. Her entire life she loved taking pictures, scrapbooking, and sewing. She chronicled the lives of her family, friends, and neighbors in her numerous handmade scrapbooks. For her Griffin High School class of 1958, she served as the historian and kept up with the obituaries and photos of those classmates they lost over the years. With her two sisters, she made several treasured quilts, crochet crafts, and Christmas ornaments for family and friends.

She is survived by her children Kirby Sisk, David Sisk and wife Stacy; grandchildren Abigayle Sears and Aspen Sears; siblings Jeanette Newton, Gwen Donald, Steve Brooks and wife Christine; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation for Mrs. Dixie Brooks Sisk will be Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Griffin, Georgia. Dr. Bill Hardee and Reverend John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Children’s Ministry or to Brightmoor Hospice.
