Doris English Goen of Griffin passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin. Ms. Goen was born in Lamar County, Georgia on June 15, 1926. She attended Spalding County Schools through High School. Ms. Goen lived and worked for Dundee Mills most of her life in Spalding County, except for several years when she lived in Cobb County and worked at Lockheed Martin, Marietta GA, from which she retired.
Ms. Goen is preceded in death by her husband, Hamil Goen; her beloved youngest son, Jeffery (Jeff) Goen; parents Evans E. and Mabel English; brother Morris English; Sister, Mattie Shavers Sledge; and son-in-law Johnny Kitchens.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved children Yvonne Goen Parham of Miramar Beach, FL and Griffin GA, Barry Goen (Pat) of Marthasville, MO, and Paulette Kitchens Phillips (Jon) of Atlanta, and Daughter-in-Love, Carol Beacham Goen.
Nine Grandchildren survive: Jeniffer Parham Ward (Matt), Jamey Parham (Stephanie), Sonja Goen Hultz (Jeff), Hank Goen (Stacy), John Kitchens, Jason Kitchens (Marci), Justin Goen (Michelle), LeeAnn Goen Doyle, and Michael Burch Goen (Renae).
Nineteen Great Grandchildren survive: Brent Walker, Megan Walker Nazor, Nataleigh Parham, Atticus Hultz, Ginny Hultz, Holly Goen, Jessie Goen, Porter Kitchens, Ella Kitchens, Amelia Kitchens, Everett Kitchens, Mollie Goen, Caroline Goen, Hannah Goen, Austin Doyle, Zachary Doyle, Jake Burch, Allie Burch, and Luke Burch.
Two Great-Great Granddaughters, Ari and Lily Nazor.
Ms. Goen is also survived by her Sister, Martha English Wall and Brother Terrell (Merie) English, and Sister-in-Law, Nelda English Gaddy, all of Griffin. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins in both the Goen and English families survive as well as many cherished friends. Of special note are her wonderful neighbors/friends Gene and Janet Walton, Charlotte Daniel, Lynne Perdue Nicholson, Randy and Katrina Steward, Jim & Scottie Pleasants, Cheryl Saunders, and Marie Williamson.

Visitation will be held at Conner-Westbury on Friday evening, 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Morning at Conner-Westbury at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eternal Hope Hospice, Griffin or Guide Dogs of America, guidingeyes.org – in memory of Jeff Goen and Doris Goen.
