Mrs. Dorothy W. Helms, age 97 of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mrs. Dorothy W. Helms was born in Milner, Georgia on March 15, 1921 to the late G. C. Wright and the late Nancy Middlebrooks Wright. She was a long time member of DeVotie Baptist Church, a member of “Bond of Love Sunday School Class“and the J.O.Y. group. She was also a member of “Silver Sneakers.” She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Virgil Helms; infant daughter Nancy Elizabeth; grandson Brent Stubbs; four sisters and one brother.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Peggy Helms Stubbs and Kenneth Stubbs of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law Wayne Helms and Stacie Helms of Six Mile, South Carolina; great grandson, Gage Stubbs and his mother Karen Stubbs Dryden of Senoia; step-grandchildren, Ashlie and Justin Swengle of Knoxville, TN, Chuck Gosnell of Spindale, NC; niece, Rebecca Bethune Brannon of Gainesville, GA; nephew David and his wife Oriska Griggs of Fayetteville, GA; great nephews and nieces, Mark Brannon and Carol Brannon, their children Sarah, Emily, Todd and MaryEllyn of Duluth, GA, Laura Brannon of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Griggs Dooley and her husband Tim Dooley and their son’s Parker, Teagan and daughter Charleigh of Fayetteville, GA., Benjamin Griggs of Athens, GA; several cousins.
A visitation for Mrs. Dorothy W. Helms will be Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation a funeral service will be conducted in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury. Pastor Don McMurry will officiate. Interment will be private.
