Dr. William Thomas “Bill” Scott, III, age 84, of Tennessee, formerly of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

Dr. Scott was born in Spalding County, Georgia on August 5, 1932. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Scott, Jr.  Dr. Scott graduated from Griffin, High School, graduated from Suwannee College, attended the University of Georgia and obtained his Doctor of Science in Dentistry from Emory University before returning to Griffin and ran his practice for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. George Episcopal Church; he was very active in Boys Scout Troop # 77 for many years in Griffin.

He is survived by sons, Bill and Cindy Scott, Fred Scott, Gordon and Nilsa Scott; 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A time to reflect his life and maybe a story or two for those wish to attend will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 am in the old section of Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that you please make a contribution to the Boy Scouts of America, 1361 Zebulon Rd, Griffin, GA 30224 in memory of Dr. Scott
