Edna Mae Morton, age 81 of Griffin, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital.

Edna was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on January 18, 1939. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Lester Mullen Sr. and Mary Louise Boone, husband, Glenn Morton, sister, Marilynn Thompson, and brother, Herman Mullen Jr. Edna was an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Griffin, Georgia where she enjoyed organizing events for the KIT club. Edna loved to play her favorite bible hymns on the piano and had a beautiful singing voice. Early in life, she was an avid bowler and once carried a 190 average bowling on multiple leagues. In recent years, she exceled at Wii bowling and would often beat the grandchildren. Edna loved family trips to the North Georgia Mountains stopping to take in all the beautiful scenery. Most of all, Edna loved spending time with her four grandchildren; attending their school events and watching them play multiple sports.

Before moving to Griffin, Georgia, Edna and Glenn started their family in Kansas City, Missouri. The family attended many Kansas City Chiefs and Royals games throughout their years there. Edna was a lifetime fan of the KC Chiefs and Royals and would proudly display the team decals on her car.

Edna is survived by her children, James Morton, Michelle Purmort and husband Chris; grandchildren, James Morton, Jacob Morton, Kristin Purmort, Michael Purmort; brothers, Jimmy Mullen and wife Karen, Bobby Mullen and wife Patricia; several nieces and nephews.

In light of the covid-19 pandemic, a private family memorial service will be Monday August 3rd. There will be a livestreaming of the services starting at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: either American Diabetes Association or Camp Sunshine at MyCampSunshine.com.
