George Emory Dyess of Griffin, Georgia passed away on October 12, 2018 after suffering a devastating disease of Parkinson.
George "Emory" was born on December 15, 1943 in La Belle, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents Glenn Raymond Dyess and Mary Forrey Dyess. George served in the United States Navy and trained as an airplane mechanic which became his lifetime career and passion. After leaving the military, he worked at Delta Airlines and at the Griffin Airport.
He is survived by his sister, Glenda Dyess Harris and her husband, Darrell, many nieces and nephews and his son, Rodney Dyess.
When he wasn't working on airplanes, George had varied interest including bee keeping and flying. He was a member of Griffin First assembly where he sang in the Choir for every performance and built sets for all the production of the past 18 years. He will be fondly remembered as a servant making coffee for his Sunday School Class and the Choir. He was a generous giver to Missions and supporter of Mission trips and those going on them. He will be greatly missed by immediate family, church and choir family, special friends, Susie Axtell, Darrell Reynolds, Scott and Jennifer Creswell.

A memorial service will be on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at Griffin First Assembly. Dr. Randy Valimont will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations can be to Griffin First Assembly Choir Missions account, 2000 W. McIntosh Road, Griffin, Georgia 30223
