George Carlton Tilson

Mr. George Carlton Tilson, age 74 of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Tilson was born on August 24, 1945 in Buck Creek Community of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Elizabeth Brannon Tilson; parents, Willis Roy Tilson and Anna May Brown Westberry; grandparents, Harold and Mable Brown; sister, Evelyn Nix; Steven Eugene Collett, and Patrick Crawford. 

Mr. Tilson worked for Atlanta Wire Works for 30 years, Department of Public Safety for 15 years, and Auto Repossession for a number of years. He loved watching old television shows, panning for gemstones, shooting rifles, whittling sticks, and playing his guitar (including playing in a band).  

Survivors include his daughter, Jeannette Dyken and husband Kenny; sons, Jared Brannon, Matt Brannon and wife Brittany; grandchildren, Clay Dyken and wife Amanda, Kenneth “DJ” Dyken, Jr., Aaliyah Brannon, Drew Brannon; great-grandchildren, Tristen Dyken, LeLand Dyken, Cayleigh Dyken; brother, Danny Tilson and wife Patsy; sister, Terry Ann Westberry; step-father, Eugene Westberry; brother-in-law, Malcom Nix; niece, Carol Crawford; other nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury funeral home. A funeral service will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to assist with funeral expenses.
