Harold Shepherd

William Harold Shepherd age 97, of Griffin passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022.

Mr. Shepherd was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 9, 1925. His parents, Luther and Corene Shepherd, his wife, Phyliss McGhee Shepherd; his first wife, Christine Norris Shepherd; sisters, Winefred Terrell, Betty Montgomery all preceded him in death. Harold was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving in World War II in the South Pacific. For many years Harold was the owner of Griffin Discount Store, G & S Investments, was in partnership with son, Mark Gilreath in Gilreath Carpets, Inc II. He was a member of Rock Springs Church, and a great man of God. His entire life was centered around his wife and family. A man of his word and a role model for his children and grandchildren.

Harold is the father of five, Tim Shepherd (Beth), Danny Gilreath (Lori), Mark Gilreath (Wanda), Ricky Shepherd, Phillip Shepherd; He was proud of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law also survive.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Followed a funeral service in the chapel. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors. Pastor Ricky Shepherd and Dr. Benny Tate will officiate.
