Mr. Harold Allen Sturdivant, age 64 of Griffin, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016, at Brightmoor Nursing Center.
Mr. Sturdivant was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 29, 1951. He is preceded in death by his father, Olan Sturdivant; mother and step father, Cora Sturdivant Young and Karl Young; brothers, Jack Sturdivant, and Roger Sturdivant. Mr. Sturdivant was a 1969 graduate with Honors from Henry County High School, 1973 Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University, 1978 Juris Doctor, Woodrow Wilson School of Law, and admitted to State Bar of Georgia in 1978. He worked for law firms in Atlanta and Griffin, and then opened his own law firm in 1999 (Sullivan and Sturdivant). Mr. Sturdivant practiced law in most counties and most courts in Georgia. He practiced in many areas of law, but specialized in criminal law, until a stroke in April of 2005. He loved his red convertible Mustang, the ocean, practicing law and was truly a “nice guy”. He loved God and his family in his quiet sweet way. During his three years at Brightmoor Nursing Center, he was fondly known as “Sweetie.”
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ballew Phillips Sturdivant; daughter, Lindsey Marie Sturdivant Oyola and her husband, Adam and their children; Benjamin Oyola and Frank Oyola, son, Chris Ellington and his wife Melanie and their children, Katelyn Ellington and fiancé, Ray Loya and Christina Ellington; sister-in-law, Ann Sturdivant.
A visitation for Mr. Harold Allen Sturdivant will be on Sunday, February 7, 2016, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 8, 2016, at 11:00am, in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. The family asks that you please omit flowers, and contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
