Henry K Collins

Mr. Henry K. Collins age 95 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Monday, November 26, 2018.

Mr. Collins was born October 7, 1923 in Spalding County. He is preceded in death by parents, Walter R. Collins and Lilla Mae Weldon Collins, his wife Vivian Collins; brothers, Walter Lee Collins, Clarence Collins; sisters, Annie Mae Yonce, Lula Mae Rogers, Nannie Lee Helms, Vernie Collins. Mr. Collins joined Second Baptist Church in September 1939 and was the seventh person baptized at the church. He owned and operated Collins Men and Boy’s Clothing Store for many years, he was Boss of the year 1972, a veteran of the United States navy having served in World War II, a member of the VFW, American Legion. Mr. Collins was a former Magistrate Judge, formerly worked as a jailer for City of Griffin and a Bailiff for Spalding County Sheriff’s Dept at the Court House and Jones-Harrison Furniture Store.

Survivors include son, Kenneth Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Robert Brooker; grandchildren, Chris Chesser, Scott Chesser, Robbie and Heather Brooker, Kimberly and Larkin Daniels; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Edna Collins Jones; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Henry Collins will be Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. His granddaughter Kimberly Daniel and Reverend Jim Cannady will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
