Howard Bennett

March 25, 1940 ~ June 13, 2019 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Mr. William Howard Bennett, age 79, celebrated his home-going on Thursday, June 13, 2019.

Mr. Bennett was born on March 25, 1940 to the late Mattie and Bill Bennett. He retired after 25 years as a Sales Manager with Liberty National Insurance Company. During his employment, he received many awards and honor recognitions for his outstanding work accomplishments. He was a “people person” and friend to many. He loved people and had an unusual God-given personality to relate to them. He was an avid outdoorsman for hunting, fishing and sports. He thrived on competition, never fearing the opposition, which usually resulted in his victory. He taught his sons & grandsons this ability and was the unpaid coach at all their sporting events, which he was faithful to attend. However, he was a wimp with his daughter. She had him wrapped around her little finger from the day she was born. He loved his family, people and most of all, his God. He was a member of Griffin Center Point Church of God.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bennett is preceded in death by his brothers, Aldine Bennett, Joe Bennett and wife Ella Mae, Doug Bennett and wife Alice, Paul Bennett, Homer Bennett and wife Mary Lou; sister, Rosa Mangham and husband Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Bennett; children, Jill Lively and husband Mike, Scott Bennett and wife Melissa, Kevin Bennett and wife Angela; grandchildren, Michael Lively and wife Nancy, Matthew Lively, Joshua Bennett, Jesse Bennett; special great-grandson, Christian Lively, John Paul Coussons and wife Danielle, Ashli Davis and husband Josh, Kyleigh Davis, Kaydence Davis; sisters, Gertrude Cox and husband Emmett, Ruby Smallwood, Viola Vaughn, Frances Grindle and husband Bobby; sisters-in-law, Willene Jimmerson and husband Reid, Flora Bennett, Carol Huffman, Sharon Huffman; several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Griffin Center Point Church of God, followed by a memorial service.
