Howard Lanier "Bubba" Crowder, Jr

Howard Lanier Crowder Jr. “Bubba”, was born on November 7, 1960 and passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023. He was born to Howard Crowder Sr. and Minnette Bass in Griffin, Georgia. In 1991, he married his soulmate Susan. Howard was a great husband and loving father to his three children, Ashley, Bubba Jr and James.

Bubba had a passion for high school football. When healthy, he would go to games several nights a week. Most times, he could predict who would go to the playoffs and win the state championship. The greatest heartache for him and his loved ones was when he became too weak to attend the games in person. However, on Friday nights you would still find him listening to the games on the radio. He was truly a Griffin Bear and was known as Bearman. He was also a huge Tennessee Volunteers fan and when he was able, he would go to the games. Lastly, he loved wrestling and enjoyed attending wrestlemerica shows. 

His only passion greater than football and wrestling was his love for Jesus and his family. Bubba loved his family with his entire heart and always made sure Jesus was in the center of his family. 

Bubba never gave up on life. Defying all the odds, he fought to stay with his family to the very end. 

Bubba is preceded in death by his parents, Minnette Teague and Howard Crowder Sr; Step father, Huston Teague; Step mother, Kathy Crowder; sister, Cathy Henson. 

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan Crowder; daughter Ashley Crowder and two sons, Bubba Jr. and James and Brandie Smith; grandchild, Aaron Voravong and granddog, Hercules; brothers, Ken and Kimberly Garner, Ben and Christy Goodman; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to special family members Greg, Dede, Ashley, Kaylyn and Robbie Speights for their love and support during this difficult time. 

The visitation for Howard Lanier Crowder Jr. will be Friday, September 15, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A Memorial service will follow the visitation at 5:00 pm in the chapel of Conner-Westbury. Reverend Wade Corley will officiate. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate assistance toward funeral costs during this difficult time.
