JOANNE HARDY HOBBS BALLEW

Joanne Hardy Hobbs Ballew, age 79 of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Joanne was born in Harris County, Georgia on May 8, 1939. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Hardy and Ida Mae Oliver Hardy. From the age of 21 days she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Ozella and Joe Dukes, that she lovingly called Mama and Papa. She was retired from the Georgia Experiment Station, a member of Vineyard Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Billie Jo and Harvey Pilkenton, Paula and David Shelby; grandchildren, Jody and Angie Pilkenton, Jeffery and Ashlea Pilkenton, Beth and Josh Miller; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Lane, Mary Beth, Dylan, Mason, Carter, Pierce, Logan, and Jeremiah; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Joanne Hobbs Ballew will be Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted in the Chapel. Reverend Sam Underwood will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
