Jim Barwick, age 79 of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Hope Center Memory Care.
Jim was born in Durham, North Carolina on April 29, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Barwick, Sr. and Frances Bounds Barwick and brother, Bill Barwick. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He was an air traffic controller and retired as a printing supervisor from Treasure Chest Advertising. Jim was a sports fan but his true love was tennis – both playing and watching tournaments on television. He played almost every day and sometimes twice a day. He taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed studying the Bible.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sherry Greene Barwick; children, Jay (Stephanie) Barwick, Kevin (Amy) Barwick and Tina (John) Roberts; grandchildren, Morgan Carpenter, Shelby Crumley, Chris Barwick, Kalyssa Barwick, Blake Barwick, J.P. Barwick, Justin Roberts and Brooke Roberts; great-grandchildren, Emmalynn Gauette and Wyatt Crumley; brother, Joe (Vickey) Barwick; and sister-in-law, Linda Reussow, and his adored dog, Bella.
A visitation for Jim Barwick will be Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southern Grace Hospice, 80 Candler Rd, McDonough, GA 30253 or Hope Center Memory Care, 355 Brandywine Blvd, Fayetteville, GA 30214 in Jim’s memory.
