James Wayne Childrey

James Wayne “Pops” Childrey, age 73, of Griffin passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at WellStar Spalding Hospital.

Pops was born May 12, 1948 in Farmfield, Virginia. His parents James William Childrey and Dorothy Lee Coffey Childrey; son, Christopher Childrey; sister, Judy Major all preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Viet Nam War. Pops was employed at Bumper-Bumper, and a member of High Falls Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Tiffany Childrey (Bill), Maegan Delucia (James), Matthew Childrey, Cameron Childrey (Brooke); siblings, Debra Mayfield, Tammy Callaway, Sandra Dutton, Pam Chamberlin; grandchildren, Katilyn, Ricky, Bryce, Rylee, Cason, Lexi, Neyland, Nadalyn, Harmony; mother’s of his children, Kathy Childrey, Charlotte McGuire; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 600pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Conner-Westbury. Pastor Cameron Shiflett will officiate.
