James Dwight Giddens, age 79 of Monroe County, Georgia died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 after an extended illness.
Mr. Giddens was born in Cochran, Georgia on March 11, 1944. His wife, Margaret Childs Giddens, parents, George “Dock” Giddens and Rubye Peacock Purser; siblings, Neil Lowrie, Lila Hadden and Phil Giddens, all preceded him in death. Mr. Giddens was a United States Marine Veteran who, while stationed out of Parris Island, served our country in Vietnam. After his military service, Mr. Giddens joined the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 72 and was a member until he retired to spend more time going camping and cruising with family and friends.
Survivors include his son, James Giddens, Jr.; daughter, Nekee (Flan) Lewis; grandchildren, Heather Simmons, Nathan Lewis; great grandchildren, Jaxon Simmons, Bella Simmons, Layla Simmons, Rylee Simmons; several nieces, nephews and cousins; extended family, James and Floy “Puddin” Copeland; Emily “Big Girlfriend” Copeland, Jason, Jessica, Lexie and Hunter Henderson, The Copeland and Stover families; special friends, Bill and Linda Alexander.
A graveside service with military honors will be September 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery 1301 Riverside Drive, Macon, Ga 31212.
