James Wall

James Quinn Wall, age 89 of Williamson, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin, Georgia.
James was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on February 8, 1933. He is preceded in death by his parents, James E. Wall and Laura Cornelia “Carrie” Whiddon Wall and brothers, Rowe Wall and Edward Wall.
James, a sharecropper’s son, was the oldest of five siblings who grew up picking cotton and peanuts and processing cane syrup and turpentine in rural South Georgia. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge, Georgia and Lively Technical College in Tallahassee, Florida with his Aircraft and Engine license. He served eight years in the United State Air Force up to the rank of Tech Sergeant. For 28 years, he had a career in aircraft maintenance as a supervisor with Northwest Airlines, formerly Southern and Republic Airlines.
He was a committed member of the AMBUCS Griffin Chapter who spent many hours volunteering as a manager of the Putt-Putt golf at Griffin City Park. He dedicated his time to helping the handicapped children and vets with Amtrykes-for Mobility. He was known as “Candy Man” for his famous peanut brittle and enjoyed frying fish for family get-togethers. He was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class at Griffin First United Methodist Church. In his latter years, he suffered from post-polio syndrome.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanine Wall; daughter, Deborah Wall; sons, Richard Wall (Karen), Steven Wall (Christie); grandchildren, Virginia “Ginny” Arce (Pedro), Michael Spray (Teva), Barbara Orange (Jimmy), Jami Wall, Alan Wall; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Laura McCravy, Mary Bailey; nieces, Laura Marie Jones, Charla Webb (Jimmy), Frances Ryan (Christopher); nephews, Jeff Wall (Rebecca), Christopher Wall (Jennifer), Dustin Wall.
Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel.
