Jeanelle Brooks Johnson

Mrs. Jeanelle Johnson, 99 of Griffin, Georgia, passed away in her sleep, at her home, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Spalding County on October 21, 1920. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alma Lois Shepherd Brooks and James Terrell Brooks; her husband, Wilbur Homer Johnson, Jr.; son, William Harold Johnson; sister, Gladys Brooks Woodruff. Jeanelle loved to garden and raise cattle. She loved her family and her church family. She was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for 82 consecutive years.

Survivors include her sons, Allen Davis Johnson and wife Dayle, Russell Homer Johnson and wife Mimi; daughter Penny Lois Johnson Taylor and husband Steve; grandchildren, Robin Farmer and husband Curtis, Dave Johnson and wife Dawn, Johnna Johnson and husband Kyle, Ashley Moran and husband Brian, Rusty Johnson and wife Ashley, Britney Taylor, Steven Taylor Jr., 17 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank caregivers Mary and Shontrell Morgan for their love and devotion, as well as Brightmoor Home Hospice for their care.

A visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2019 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, with a funeral service following. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
