Jim Dale Godby

Mr. Jim Dale Godby age 72 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at his residence.
 
Mr. Godby was born February 17, 1946 in West Hamlin, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by parents, James Arnold Godby and Grace Benford Godby, daughter Michelle Openshaw, sister, Odessa Sackett. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in Vietnam. Mr. Godby was a member of Rock Springs Church. He never met a stranger, was a jokester and was always up to something. You could always count on a laugh when around him.
 
Survivors include his wife, Jenny Godby; daughter, Kristin Johnson and husband, Chuck; grandchildren, Brittany Godby, Kala Rechy, Amber Rechy; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Damon and Landon; sister, Margaret Rigsby and husband, Jim; brothers, John Godby, George Godby and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Halla Maria Arnadottir and husband, Trlyggvi ; brother-in-law, Jon Arnason; several nieces and nephews. 
 
Visitation for Mr. Jim Dale Godby will be Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. Military honors will follow the service. He will buried at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 1:00pm.
