Joan Hamby Peterman, age 81 of Griffin, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
Joan was born October 5, 1938 in Griffin, Georgia. Her parents, Lewis M. and Ethel McMillan Hamby, her husband, Forrest E. Peterman, Sr. along with her siblings, Max Hamby, Etheleen Swint, Gene Hamby, Marie Hamby Cook, Marvin Hamby and Johnny Hamby all precede her in death. Joan formerly worked for Commercial Bank for 25 years and retired from Atlanta Gas Light. She loved flowers, dancing, singing and animals, but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by daughter, Donna P. Johnson and husband, Russell; son, Forrest E. Peterman, Jr and wife, Janey; grandchildren, Kaitlin Johnson Reese and husband, Jesse, Jeremy Johnson, Forrest E. Peterman, III, Kristin Rhodes; great grandchildren, Penny Reese, Ruby Vaughn, Violet Johnson, Taylor Wehmeyer, Elliott Rhodes; sister-in-law, Jane Hamby; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Followed a funeral service in the chapel. Dr. Keith Wesley will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or a donation in memory of Joan can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
