John Tyndall McMillan, Jr., age 75 of Griffin passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital.
Mr. McMillan was born in Carrollton, Georgia on December 1, 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Tyndall McMillan, Sr. and Mildred Eley McMillan; a brother, Stephen McMillan.
Tyndall moved to Griffin from Carrollton in 1964, where he met and married his wife Janet in 1965. He served in the Army National Guard for 39 years and retired in 2002. Mr. McMillan was also in the textile business having worked for United Cotton Goods, and started his own family textile businesses. He also retired from the Atlanta Apparel Mart in 2015. He and his wife Janet were members of Griffin First Baptist church for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Tarpley McMillan; three sons, John T. McMillan III, David and Stephanie McMillan, Edward and Laurie McMillan; grandchildren, Abby McMillan, Edward McMillan, Jr., Clayton McMillan, Libby McMillan; brother and sister in law, Wendell and Donna McMillan; sister and brother in law, Barbara and Tommy Watts; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Hardee officiating. Interment will be in Westwood Gardens with full military honors.
