Mr. John Paul Rice, age 70, of Zetella, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 16, 2020 at residence.
Mr. Rice was born in Griffin, Georgia on February 10, 1950, to the late James Lawrence Rice and Anna Nell Goodrum Rice. Paul leaves his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Peggy Holland Rice of Griffin; daughter and son-in-law Rebecca “Becky” R. Harrington and John P. Harrington IV; granddaughter Miss Daphne Marie Harrington all of Walnut Creek, California; brothers Robert Rice of Griffin and David Rice of Harvest, Alabama; sisters Susan Ray of Monroe, Georgia and Loraine Oxford of Concord, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.
Paul was a 1969 graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, Georgia. He was employed by Central Georgia Electric Membership for over thirty years. Starting his life long career on the line crew, promoted to serviceman, and then promoted to Right-of-Way Maintenance Coordinator. Paul earned his Certified Arborist degree and also Utility Certified Arborist degree during this time. Paul was a Master Mason since 1979 and Past Master of Ringgold Lodge #90 near Griffin.
In Lieu of Flowers contribution may be sent to Mt. Zion Methodist Campground, P. O. Box 355 , Experiment, Ga 30212 or Ringgold Masonic Lodge #90, 116 Teal Court, Locust Grove, Georgia 30248
A visitation will be on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Followed by a memorial graveside service at Mt. Zion Methodist Cemetery on Vaughn Road in western Spalding County.
To honor Paul’s life, family and friends are invited to a small gathering after the services at Mt. Zion Campground dining hall.
